If you're new to the idea of walk and talk therapy – especially by phone – you might be wondering what it actually looks like. At Walking Session, we keep things simple, supportive, and tailored to you. Whether you're walking through a park or pacing your hallway, here's what to expect from your first phone-based session.

Step 1: Book Your Session Online
Getting started is easy. You can book your appointment through our website at a time that suits you. We offer Medicare rebates and bulk billing on request, and there's no need to travel or sit in a waiting room.
Step 2: A Psychologist Calls You
At your scheduled time, one of our registered psychologists will give you a call. No apps, no video links – just a direct, private phone call. You can take the call while walking, or simply sit somewhere comfortable. The choice is yours.
Step 3: Set the Pace and Focus
Your psychologist will begin by gently exploring what's been on your mind. This is your space to talk freely. Walking can help thoughts flow more naturally, and many people find they open up more easily than in traditional face-to-face settings.
Step 4: Real Conversation, Real Support
These sessions are professional and grounded in evidence-based practice, but they feel relaxed and human. You're walking, talking, thinking, and healing – all at once. No awkward silences. No pressure to make eye contact. Just movement and support.
Step 5: Wrap-Up and Next Steps
At the end of your session, your psychologist might offer a simple reflection, strategy, or question to carry with you into your week. If you choose, you can rebook straight away or take some time to reflect. You’re in control.
